The August construction activity began with another increase in the pace of work. Our focus on the Department of Water and Power (DWP) Vault area helped keep the project on task and on time. The backfilling of the walls was critical to our completing the footings in that area. The perimeter shotcrete walls were also completed in preparations of pouring slab on grade. You can clearly see the challenge of installing the volume of reinforcing steel that is required in the Tower Core Walls. We worked through a number of time saving ideas to help us on future reinforcing placement. The Tower Core Wall Forming System was built up, fabricated and we made our 1st Core Wall Pour. The system is working well right now and since it is a self-climbing system we are able to save crane time for other areas and subcontractors on the project. We also started forming our 1st elevated concrete deck over the DWP Vault.
